This has been a good week!
On Monday I was verbally offered the job with the headhunter – by Friday the written confirmation had arrived in the post and I handed in my formal notice at my current job. I hope to finish there 03 October and start the new role on 16 October.
Friday night R and I viewed a *perfect* flat and this morning we put on the deposit and move in on the 14 October. The flat is in Polwarth a 1.5 bedroomed with large kitchen and living room. A mere 15 mins walk from both our jobs.
All in all a week of good news and much celebration.

The finished product! You are welcome to come and sample Christmas time!
So I have had my 2nd interview – all I have to do is wait until Monday. It’s between me and one other – but the other candidate can’t interview until Monday! That’s really difficult but at least on Monday I will know if I have a new job or not. I’m hopeful – this change feels right.
I’ve been sorting out my itunes library in the last couple of days. It reminds me of the time when I was 16 and my best friend and I hired a caravan for a week after our GSCEs. We brought all of our cds with us to go away and in order to stop ourselves from listening to the same albums again and again we made a rule that we should listen to every single album with no repeats. It was bloody hard work! I don’t think we got there in the end despite the fact it rained most of the time and we were stuck indoors! I have something like 4000 songs on my itunes and I’ll never listen to all the songs. My flatmate has got a lot of Eva Cassidy who I had never listened to – it’s really quite good.
This weekend I am making my Christmas Cake. Got mum’s recipe and I’m going for it. I like her recipe because it uses rum instead of brandy and I have lots of rum in the flat.
R is away this weekend so I thought I might relax, kick back and catch up with some friends.
The weather is lovely and sunny at the moment so I’m off to Dalkeith to meet up with AH shortly to have some lunch and have a little walk in a country park.
Tomorrow I’m heading to R’s parents for some Sunday lunch wthout him. It’s my first trip to the “in-laws” sans boyf but I’m looking forward to some good chats and excellent food. Yum.
Yesterday had a job interview for the first job in a while that I can actually see myself doing! It’s for a PA to a headhunter and he’s setting up a new office in Edinburgh. Should be exciting – I hope at the very least I get a second interview. I am REALLY trying to changes jobs now. I’ve had several interviews and it’ been 50/50 between not getting them and not really wanting them. I look forward to some change and better jobs in the next few months!
Recently has been all about waiting patiently:
I have to be careful I don’t wish my life away.
Over the next few months I’m planning:
I think you could have guessed that from the first list!
Have had an excellent week!
Sunday night (23rd)
Mike and Janet arrive from Swansea. Had a couple of swift cocktails at the Caledonian Hilton then rush across to the Dragonfly for a drink with Jill for her birthday. Mike and Janet then treated us to a meal at the Caledonian Hilton. Which as good but not particularly memorable (as I can't remember what I had now!)
Monday (24th)
Went to Oloroso (www.oloroso.co.uk) for lunch then R cooked a spectacular and yummy roast beef for Janet. YUM.
Tuesday (25th)
M's birthday. We grabbed the train down to London to surprise M and my was he surprised! He did a double take as we sat down in the seat in front of him at the hotel. Was definately worth not blogging in the preceding weeks! We were staying at the Cumberland Hotel in Marble Arch (http://www.guoman.com/guoman/hotels/hotelFinder/viewHotel.do?hotelID=gu-cumberland) which was a pretty cool hotel and good room – reception and bar area – a little naff in its attempt to be "modern" but didn't affect us that much as we weren't really there.
More to be added…
I just thought I would hop on the Gnarls Barkley bandwagon and contribute my unimportant opinion.
I really really enjoyed the album – the saddest part is it's just under 40 minutes and just as you really get into it – it ends.
But it's soulful melancholy beautiful crazy (sorry had to add that) and above all things as Frasier Season One would describe "eclectic".
The song that sticks with me the most is The Last Time.
I've been really enjoying my music of late – been sorting out "my music" and listening to new and old things. Good stuff.
Mike and Janet are coming up today for a couple of days in Edinburgh. We’re eating tonight at the Caledonian Hilton and then at mine tomorrow.
It’s been a busy few weeks. R’s surgery on his hand, many job applications, studying for my exams in June. I’m looking forward to a week of relaxation and rest! Should be good.
