That’s a wrap

October 4, 2006

Yesterday completed my last day of work and I’m now on holiday for 8 days before starting my new job! Very exciting times.

Last night went out with work colleagues to celebrate. Feeling a little tender this morning but not as bad as I thought.

P and B get married tomorrow and R’s dad retires on Friday so it’s all go for a little while. Looking forward to relaxing times, moving flats and new jobs. :-D

Woo Hoo!

September 23, 2006

This has been a good week!

On Monday I was verbally offered the job with the headhunter – by Friday the written confirmation had arrived in the post and I handed in my formal notice at my current job. I hope to finish there 03 October and start the new role on 16 October.

Friday night R and I viewed a *perfect* flat and this morning we put on the deposit and move in on the 14 October. The flat is in Polwarth a 1.5 bedroomed with large kitchen and living room. A mere 15 mins walk from both our jobs.

All in all a week of good news and much celebration.

Waiting some more

September 14, 2006

So I have had my 2nd interview – all I have to do is wait until Monday. It’s between me and one other – but the other candidate can’t interview until Monday! That’s really difficult but at least on Monday I will know if I have a new job or not. I’m hopeful – this change feels right.

I’ve been sorting out my itunes library in the last couple of days. It reminds me of the time when I was 16 and my best friend and I hired a caravan for a week after our GSCEs. We brought all of our cds with us to go away and in order to stop ourselves from listening to the same albums again and again we made a rule that we should listen to every single album with no repeats. It was bloody hard work! I don’t think we got there in the end despite the fact it rained most of the time and we were stuck indoors! I have something like 4000 songs on my itunes and I’ll never listen to all the songs. My flatmate has got a lot of Eva Cassidy who I had never listened to – it’s really quite good. :-)

This weekend I am making my Christmas Cake. Got mum’s recipe and I’m going for it. I like her recipe because it uses rum instead of brandy and I have lots of rum in the flat.

“Quiet” weekend

September 9, 2006

R is away this weekend so I thought I might relax, kick back and catch up with some friends.

The weather is lovely and sunny at the moment so I’m off to Dalkeith to meet up with AH shortly to have some lunch and have a little walk in a country park.

Tomorrow I’m heading to R’s parents for some Sunday lunch wthout him.  It’s my first trip to the “in-laws” sans boyf but I’m looking forward to some good chats and excellent food. Yum.

Yesterday had a job interview for the first job in a while that I can actually see myself doing!  It’s for a PA to a headhunter and he’s setting up a new office in Edinburgh.  Should be exciting – I hope at the very least I get a second interview.  I am REALLY trying to changes jobs now.  I’ve had several interviews and it’ been 50/50 between not getting them and not really wanting them.  I look forward to some change and better jobs in the next few months!

Waiting

August 8, 2006

Recently has been all about waiting patiently:

  • to hear about job interviews
  • to hear back from flat viewings
  • for my O2 contract to expire so that I can upgrade my phone
  • to hear back from my landlord about my exit date
  • for my CIM results so that I can work out how many exams I need to resit

I have to be careful I don’t wish my life away.

Over the next few months I’m planning:

  • to get new job
  • move flat
  • buy my own webpage and start my blog from there

I think you could have guessed that from the first list!

Broken bones & spirits

April 2, 2006

This weekend trying really hard to get my head round my CIM modules (Marketing Communications & Marketing Management in Practice) and I have to say the motivation is very low! There is a LOT of work involved and only eight weeks to do it in. I seem to have forgotten why I started it too. So right now I’ve been trawling through my notes, revising and planning the week’s revision. I have worked out that I should probably revise every night but one… fat chance of that happening!

Yesterday went to the minor injuries clinic with R to find out that he’d broken two bones in his thumb! One of which has become detached from his thumb so he may require surgery. The thing he’s most gutted about is the fact he won’t be able to play football (where he injured himself) for a few weeks. Quite funny – he made the Doctor write on the patient notes that he had saved the goal that broke his thumb!

Right back to it! CIM sucks!
